Charles Francis Ward, Sr., age 90, of Wilmington, NC, formerly of Lumberton, NC died on Friday, March 9, 2012 at his residence, Trinity Grove Assisted Living Center. He was born in Brunswick County, NC on February 13, 1922 to the late Lindsey E. Ward and the late Catherine Westbrook Ward. He was a veteran of World War II and previously worked as a salesman for McLean Wholesale and then became an independent salesman.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Leon and three sisters, Amarette, Aileen and Ann.

Mr. Ward is survived by his wife of seventy years, Nan B. Ward of the home; a son, Charles F. Ward, Jr. of Satsuma, FL; four brothers, Earl, Roy, Aaron and Graham; two sisters, Catherine and Faye; two grandchildren, Allison Courville of Greeley, CO and Charles F. Ward III of Gainesville, FL and two great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, March 11, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Meadowbrook Cemetery in Lumberton with Rev. Joe Bounds and Dr. David Elks officiating. Visitation will be at the graveside following the service.
