Best known as Ray, "Daddy", or "Papa", he lived a life of service. He served in the National Guard and he was a truck driver for many years before starting Evans Roofing Company in 1980. He served many positions at his home church, West Lumberton Baptist, and attended until his death.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Geraldine "Jerri" Evans; his daughter, Donna Kay Evans; his sister, Jean Hyatt; and special friend, Faye Phillips.
