Charles Derwood Barnes, age 52, of Lumberton, NC passed away on Friday, August 28, 2015 at his residence. He was born in Robeson County, NC on September 6, 1962 to the late Charles Luby Barnes, and to Ava Julia West Barnes Miller. He worked in management for Richmond Rentals. Mr. Barnes is survived by his wife, Donna Barnes of the home; a son, Charles "Chad" Derwood Barnes, Jr. (Chandler) of Lumberton; a daughter, Samantha Rae Barnes Strickland (Mario) of Fayetteville; his mother, Ava Julia West Barnes Miller (step-father, Tom) of Lumberton; sisters, Vicky Talton (Johnny) of Lumberton, Denise Britt (Garry) of Lumberton, and Janice "Jan" Lee (Tommy) of Lumberton; two grandchildren, Scarlett Stirickland and Vincent Strickland, and Donald Britt, a lifelong friend raised as a brother of Newport News, VA. A time of visitation will be held on Monday, August 31, 2015 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5th Street in Lumberton prior to the service. The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 7:00 PM in Floyd Memorial Chapel with Rev. Glen Norris and Rev. Mark Meadows officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5th Street, Lumberton, 28358. Opportunity to financially assist the family will also be given at the funeral service.
