Channing Yates Floyd Sr., age 76, of Lumberton, passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.  He was born in Robeson County, NC on February 25, 1948 to the late Odell Floyd and the late Viola Yates Floyd.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Mack Floyd, another brother Randy Floyd, and a sister Carolyn Floyd Allen.

He is survived by the mother of his three sons, Polly Floyd; his sons, Channing Floyd, Jr. and his husband, Dr. Jason Fields, of St. Petersburg, Florida, Shanning Floyd of Lumberton, and David Shane Floyd (Emily); a granddaughter, Anna Rae Huff Floyd of Wilmington, NC; one brother, French Floyd, and one sister, Kathy Lamb (J.W.). He is also survived by many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law along with several nieces and nephews.

A time of visitation will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024, from 1:00-2:00PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5th Street, Lumberton.

A funeral service will follow the visitation on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Floyd Memorial Chapel.  Burial will follow at the McLean Family Cemetery on McLean Road in Lumberton.
