Mr. Cecil Daniel Smith, age 88, of Lumberton, NC, passed away Friday, December 11, 2020, at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton, NC. He was born in Robeson County, NC on April 13, 1932, to the late Albert Smith and the late Addie Mae Pittman Smith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and later became employed with the railroad company as a special inspector.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Cecil Daniel Smith, Jr.; four brothers: Oakey Smith, Wayne Smith, Darrell Smith, and Bert Smith; and two sisters, Mae Blanton and Elizabeth Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Shelby Taylor Smith of the home; a son, Michael Salmon and wife Kim of Elizabethtown, NC; three daughters: Gayle Sessoms and husband Ralph of Lumberton, NC, Cindy Nance and special friend Alan Bryan of Elizabethtown, NC, and Sherry Harding and husband Dallas of Lumberton, NC; seven grandchildren: Kassidy Jones, Karrye Chadwick, Joseph Daniel Nance, Brandy Locklear, Heather Jenkins, Marrisa Britt, and James Dallas Harding II; 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Joyce Freeman of Lumberton, NC.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at 11:00 AM at Belch Cemetery in Lumberton, NC with Rev. Mark Meadows officiating.
