Carla LaVonne Sherwood, born March 14, 1972, in Lumberton, North Carolina, passed away on August 30, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend whose love and presence touched the lives of many.

Carla was the beloved daughter of Carlos Tucker, who is living, and the late Martha Eagerton Tucker.

She was the devoted wife of Steven Sherwood. She was a loving mother to her daughter, Kayla White, and son-in-law, Thomas White. Her greatest joy was being a grandmother to her granddaughter, Penelope Iris White. She also carried the precious memory of her grandson, the late Theodore Grant White, forever in her heart.

She was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Clifford Dewey Eagerton and Sue Eagerton; paternal grandparents, Lavern Kirby and Rafael Carlos Corona; her beloved sister, Beverly Lynn Britt; and her brothers-in-law, Harold Lewis Britt, Sr., and John Meares.

Left to cherish her memories are her sisters, Tonya Meares, Leslie Renee Leggett (Todd), and Teri Ussery. She also leaves behind several beloved nieces and nephews, as well as several cousins and extended family who shared cherished memories and special moments with her throughout her life.

Carla will be remembered for the love she gave so freely, the strength she carried, and the special place she held in the hearts of her family. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will live on through the people she loved and the many lives she touched.

Those who knew and loved Carla will forever carry her memory in their hearts. Her life may have ended, but the love she gave will continue to live on through her family and all those blessed to have known her.
