Carl Gene Rogers, 72, of Orrum, NC, died Friday, December 31, 2021, at Lower Cape Fear Life Care in Wilmington, NC. He was born in Marion, SC on October 1, 1949 to the late Vivian Thompson and the late Wavon Haskell Rogers. He was a veteran of U.S. Marine Corps and later became an electrician

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: James Rogers, Haskell Rogers, and Michael Rogers; three brothers-in-law: Ronnie Sanderson, Charles Smith, and Larry Wenger; and a nephew, Randy Wenger.

He is survived by his wife, Sara Rogers of the home; a son, Matt Rogers (Sherri) of Orrum, NC; two daughters, Laura Newton (Andrew) and Shan Musselwhite, all of Lumberton, NC; eight grandchildren: Madison, Allie, Bennett, Adam, Ashlynn, Sarah, Lauren, and C.J.; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Danny Rogers (Wanda) of Lumberton, NC; four sisters: Jeanine Wenger (Richard) of Virginia Beach, VA, Earline Smith of Portsmouth, VA, Patricia Taylor (Leroy) of Leland, NC, and Deborah "Debbie" Sanderson of Little River, SC; and a whole host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends prior to the service on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, from 11:00AM-12:00PM, at Mt. Elim Baptist Church, 645 N. Creek Road in Orrum, NC. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM with Pastor James Graham officiating. Burial will follow in the church's cemetery.
