Carl Ray Prevatte, age 74, of Lumberton, NC passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton. He was born in Robeson County, NC on February 27, 1941 to the late Lawrence Thaddeus and Gwendolyn Gilliard Prevatte. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He previously worked in real estate for Lumber River Real Estate. Mr. Prevatte was married to his wife of twenty-five years, Jane Leonard Prevatte. He was one of the founders and first chief of Northwoods Fire Department. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Alisa Prevatte Kelly; and brothers, Lawrence T. Prevatte, Jr. and Johnny Prevatte. Mr. Prevatte is survived by his wife, Jane Prevatte of the home; son, Carl Ray Prevatte, Jr. (Lynn) of Raleigh; brother, Charles Donald Prevatte (Betty Jo) of Whiteville; five grandchildren, Ashley Banks, Ava Prevatte, Luke Prevatte, Tyler Kelly, and Stephanie Kelly; and great-grandchildren, Riley Banks and Dalton Banks.
