Mr. Carl Linwood Britt, Sr., age 83, of Lumberton, passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2011 at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton. He was born in Robeson County on February 19, 1928 to the late Richard Wilbur Britt and Cora Hardin Britt.

Mr. Britt was a tobacco farmer for many years and owned his own warehouse. He served as County Commissioner of Robeson County for fourteen years. He was a lifelong member of Bethesda United Methodist Church in Orrum.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Wendell Britt and his sister, Annie Lee Stone.

Mr. Britt is survived by his wife, Grace Johnson Britt of the home; two sons, Carl Linwood Britt, Jr. ??Woody? and wife, Jennifer J. of Fayetteville, NC and Henry Johnson Britt and wife, Elizabeth P. of Charlotte, NC; two daughters, Bonnie Grace Britt Davis and husband, Timothy of Lumberton, NC and Susan Britt Bevan and husband, David J. of Raleigh, NC; two sisters, Francis Britt Tusai of Lumberton, NC and Mollie Britt Britt of McDonald, NC and six grandchildren.

A time of visitation will be held on Friday evening, September 30, 2011 from 7:00-9:00PM at Floyd Funeral Services, Inc., 1549 Marion Stage Road, Fairmont, NC.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 11:00AM at Bethesda United Methodist Church in Orrum with Rev. Brian Perry officiating. Burial will follow in Bethesda United Methodist Church Cemetery.
