Mr. Bunyan Ford Howell, Jr., better known as "Buddy", age 84, of Lumberton, NC, passed away Sunday, December 4, 2022, at his home. He was born in Robeson County, NC on December 19, 1937 to the late Bunyan Ford Howell, Sr. and the late Flora Mae Edge Howell.

He was a local agent for NC Farm Bureau for over 25 years until retirement. A lifetime member of Ten Mile Baptist Church, he served as a deacon and was a past Chairman of the Deacon Board. He was also a member of the Kiwanis Club throughout the years. His favorite hobbies included watching NASCAR, camping, and attending bluegrass festivals.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John Charles Howell and Harold Edge Howell.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marilyn West Howell of the home; his children, Bunyan Ford "Butch" Howell III (Donna Paul Stone) and Kimberly Howell Thurman (William "Kelly"), both of Lumberton, NC; four grandchildren: Brad Howell (Ferrain), Kevin Howell (Irene), Alyssa Britt (Austin), and Will Thurman; his great-granddaughter, Rena Mei Howell; his sisters: Jane Howell Norris (Lee) of Geneva, IL, and Sara Howell Lovett (Franklin) and Deborah Howell Sealey (Kenneth), both of Lumberton, NC; his sisters-in-law: Carolyn West Jolly, Barbara West Hasty, Emily Howell, and Myra Howell, all of Lumberton, NC; and two special friends, Sharron Jones of Fairmont, NC and Theodore Hill of Lumberton, NC.

The family will receive friends and loved ones prior to the service on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, from 2:00-3:00 PM at Ten Mile Baptist Church, 5176 Barker Ten Mile Road in Lumberton, NC. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM with Dr. David McClellan officiating. Burial will follow in the church's cemetery.
