Mr. Bruce Simmons, age 76, of Lumberton, passed away on Monday, January 24, 2011 at Duke University Medical Center in Durham. He was born in Robeson County on October 20, 1934 to the late Frank Simmons, Sr. and Nettie Nance Simmons. He previously worked for Pepsi Cola Bottling Company where he retired after 31 years.

In additon to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven siblings.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Ivey Simmons of the home; three sons, Tony Simmons, Paul Simmons and Kenny Simmons and wife, Terry, all of Lumberton; a daughter, Becky Prevatt and husband, Dale of Lumberton and six grandchildren, Brad Adams, Garrett Adams, Corey Simmons, Kayleigh Simmons, Courtney Simmons and Zach Simmons.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at 2:00PM at Floyd Memorial Chapel with Rev. Dennis Harrell and Rev. Shawn Dobbs officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Faith Cemetery.

A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday evening, January 26, 2011 from 7:00-9:00PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5th Street, Lumberton.
