Brenda Carol Bottoms, 82, of Lumberton, NC, passed away on Sunday July 5, 2026 at Angel House Hospice Center in Whiteville, NC.

Brenda dedicated more than 40 years of her career to the healthcare profession as an X-ray technician. Her career reflected her strong work ethic and commitment to caring for others.

Outside of her profession, Brenda's lifelong passion was thoroughbred horse racing. She enjoyed owning, training, and racing horses and spent countless hours at the racetrack and in the stables. Horse racing was an important part of her life and one of her greatest interests.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest J. Bottoms, and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James T. Ray.

Brenda is survived by her son, Malcolm Bottoms and his wife, Sherri Commander; her granddaughter, Ashley Simpson; and her grandson, Chandler Bottoms.

The family extends its sincere appreciation to the compassionate caregivers of Lower Cape Fear LifeCare and the staff of Angel House Hospice Center for the exceptional care, kindness, and dignity they provided to Brenda and her family during her final days.

In accordance with Brenda's wishes, no formal services will be held.
