Boyd Gilbert Mercer, 71, born in Lumberton, NC died April 11, 2009 at Regency Hospital in Florence, SC. He was born May 7, 1937 to Gilbert Mercer and Dorothy McLean in Robeson County. Mr. Mercer was a veteran of the United States Air Force, a retired maintenance mechanic with Converse and a member of Singletary Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Dorothy Mercer.

He is survived by his wife Carolyn Allen Mercer; one son, Garrett Boyd Mercer and fiance Donda Phillips of Lumberton, NC; one daughter Angie Mercer of Lumberton, NC; three grandchildren Leandra Erin Carter, Daniel Everette Carter and Casey Allen Mercer of Lumberton, NC; two brothers, Ronald Mercer and wife Betty of Lumberton, NC and Brian Mercer of Hamer, SC; one sister, Brenda Mercer Allen and husband Billy of Lumberton, NC.

The funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at 3:00 PM at the Singletary Baptist Church in Lumberton, NC with the Reverend Michell Nance officiating. Friends will be received Monday evening, April 13, 2009 from 7:00-9:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary and Crematory, Inc in Lumberton, NC.
