Bluford Henry Harris, age 83, of Lumberton, NC died on Monday, January 2, 2017 at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.  He was born in Wake County, NC on January 12, 1933 to the late Dover M. Harris and the late Alverda Bandy Harris.  He was a veteran of the United States Army Reserves.  He formerly worked for the NC Department of Transportation as a district engineer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Mary Frances Harris.

Mr. Harris is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jean Oliver Harris of the home; sons, Stevan Henry Harris and William O. Harris of the home; daughters, Amelia Harris of Ivanhoe, NC and Jean O. Myers (Randy) of N. Myrtle Beach, SC; six grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Floyd Memorial Chapel with Rev. Herbert Lowry, Jr. officiating

A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2015 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5th Street in Lumberton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are encouraged to be made to the Chestnut Street United Methodist Church, 200 East 8th Street, Lumberton, NC 28358 or Robeson County Humane Society, 3180 West 5th Street, Lumberton, NC 28358 or a charity of your choice.
