Birdeen Frances Prevatte Carter, age 90, of Lumberton, NC died on Monday, April 30, 2012 at the Golden Living Center in Lumberton. She was born in Robeson County, NC on April 21, 1922 to the late A.G. Prevatte, Sr. and the late Eula Mae Townsend Prevatte. She previously worked as a knitter for Altar Hosier Mill in Lexington, NC.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.

Mrs. Carter is survived by a son, Donald C. Waugh and his wife, Idellah of Fayetteville; two grandchildren, Carrie Dudley and Cassie Ashley, and two great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Floyd Memorial Chapel in Lumberton with Rev. Joe Bounds officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hill Memorial Park in Lexington, NC at 3:00 PM. A time for visitation will follow after the service.
