Billy D. Pittman, age 85, of Lumberton, NC passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Village Green Nursing Center in Fayetteville. He was born in Robeson County, NC on July 2, 1929 to the late B. Daniel Pittman and the late Augusta Mae Duncan Pittman. He was a First Sergeant in the United States Army Airborne Rangers and retired from the 82nd Airborne Division. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Lee Pittman. Mr. Pittman is survived by his son, Billy D. Pittman II of Greenville, SC; a daughter, Twyla Pittman Seffels and husband, Allan of Fayetteville; a brother, Jimmy Pittman of Lumberton; sisters, Janice Smith of Virginia Beach, VA, Helen Chandler and Betty West of Lumberton, and Peggy Cothran of Hope Mills; grandchildren, Taylor Anne Seffels, Taren Lee Mock, Lauren Brittany Pittman, and Aubrey Ann Pittman; and one great-grandchild, Wyatt Lee Mock. A visitation will be held on Monday, September 8, 2014 from 7:00-9:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5th Street in Lumberton. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Hyde Park Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Blackburn officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Faith Cemetery in Lumberton.
