Billy Hayes, 74, of Belmont, passed away on September 15, 2010 at Robin Johnson House, Dallas, NC after an extended illness with COPD. Born in Lumberton, NC on December 22, 1935, he was the son of the late Alec Hayes and Estella Dean.


Mr. Hayes is survived by his wife of 55 years, Bobbie Ivey Hayes; daughter, Sheila Rogers and husband Vernon of Mount Holly, NC; son, William Hayes and wife Hayley of Denver, NC; 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers, Dalton Hayes and Elmer Hayes, both of Lumberton, NC; and sisters, Margaret Conner of Chesapeake, VA and Ruby Townsend of Wilmington, NC.


A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 18, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. at Floyd Mortuary in Lumberton, NC. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 2:00 - 300 p.m.. A private inurnment will held at a later date.
