Mr. Billy Cox passed away on May 10, 2026, at his home. He was born November 24, 1934, to the late Dock and Sarah Cox.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Smithie Edge Cox; his son, Charles Allen Cox; his sister, Margaret Cox; a grandchild, Pamela Cox, and his infant brother.

Mr. Billy was the owner of Billy Cox grocery, and he was a charter member of the East Howellsville Fire Department. He was a Shriner and a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church.

He is survived by his sons, David Cox of Lumberton, and Wallace Cox of Lumberton; daughters, Dianne Russ of Lumberton, Beth Cox of Lumberton, and Gloria Barnes of Lumberton; 19 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, and 28 great great grandchildren.

The visitation will be from 10:00AM to 11:00AM on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Lumberton, NC.

The funeral will follow at 11:00AM on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Lumberton, NC. Burial will follow at Rozier Family Cemetery in Lumberton.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the East Howellsville Fire Department in memory of Billy Cox.
