Billy Gerald Byrd, age 63, of Orrum, NC passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Duke University Hospital in Durham. He was born in Robeson County, NC on April 13, 1951 to the late Howard and Annie Merle Gray Byrd. He was a farmer. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Larry Byrd and Steve Bryd. Mr. Byrd is survived by his wife, Penny Brumbles Byrd of the home; sons, Shannon Elliott and wife, Cindy of Proctorville and Jason Elliott and fiancé, Lisa Proffitt of Fairmont; daughters, Tonya Floyd of Lumberton and Cherry Britt and husband, Garrison of Fairmont; a sister, Patricia McCormick of Fairmont; grandchildren, Nikki Elliott, Sumer Elliott, Victoria Dew, Austin Elliott, Heather Long, and McKenzie and Payton Britt; and one great-grandchild, Ashlyn Grace McCumbee. A visitation will be held on Monday, November 3, 2014 from 7:00-9:00 PM at Floyd Funeral Services, 1549 Marion Stage Road in Fairmont. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at 11:oo PM at Floyd Funeral Services Chapel with Rev. Steve Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Floyd Memorial Cemetery in Fairmont.
