Betty Lou West Prevatte, 90, of Lumberton NC passed away peacefully Saturday, September 20, 2025.   She was born in Robeson County on August 24, 1935 to the late Luke and Maude West. Betty Lou was the sweetest woman and could cook better than anyone we knew.  She built many lasting bonds and friendships with people around her dinner table.  We are thankful for the many years we had before age robbed her of her energy and began taking her mind. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and loved her time with the ladies auxiliary at Allenton Fire Department.   She married the love of her life, Norman Prevatte and they spent 71 wonderful years together before his passing in 2024.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Norman; her son, Michael "Frog" Prevatte; her daughter, Norma Lou Britt as well as her two sisters, Margaret Baxley Walton and Earlene Hayes.

Mrs. Prevatte is survived by her amazing son-in-law, Cliff Ray, who took the best care of her in her final months; her grandson, Jeremy Britt and wife, Joni; her granddaughter, Stacy Britt; her sister, Shelby Prevatte; three great-grandsons who called her "Betty Betty" and were the light of her life; Luke, Josiah and Jaxon Britt and several special nieces and nephews who took amazing care of her during her final days.

A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 from 11:00-12:00PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5th Street, Lumberton.

The funeral will follow the visitation on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at 12:00PM at Floyd Memorial Chapel with Pastor Mark Meadows officiating.  Burial will follow at Floyd Memory Gardens in Lumberton.

Flowers are welcome, but if you wish, memorials may be made to: Antioch Baptist Church Building Fund, 5089 Old Whiteville Road, Lumberton, NC 28358.
