Mrs. Betty Jo Hardin Vanscyoc, age 73, of Lumberton, NC, passed away Monday, October 14, 2019, at her home. She was born in Robeson County on March 25, 1946 to the late John Hardin and the late Hazel Edwards Wilkerson.

Along with her mother and father, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Vanscyoc; her stepfather, Grover Wilkerson; one brother, Elmer Hardin; three sisters: Brenda Guill, Lola Bullard, and Judy Valencia; and one granddaughter, Courtney Cochran.

She is survived by one son, Hubert Freeman (Cindy) of Winston-Salem, NC; three daughters: Sabrina Owens (Greg) of Fayetteville, NC, Carolyn Starnes (Reese) of Lumberton, and Patty Cochran (Paul) of Ft. Worth, TX; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles Hardin of Charleston, SC; and one sister, Shelby Cummings of Sanford, NC.

The family will receive friends prior to the service on Friday, October 18, 2019, from 1:00-3:00 PM at Floyd Memorial Chapel, 809 E. 5th Street in Lumberton, NC. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM with Rev. Joe Bounds officiating. Burial will follow at Floyd Memory Gardens, 3720 Old Whiteville Road in Lumberton, NC.
