Betty Lou Walters Stephenson, age 79, passed away Sunday, July 23, 2017, at Highland Acres Nursing Center in Lumberton. She was born September 23, 1937 in Robeson County to the late Melvin Walters and the late Thursey Rice.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Stephenson; five brothers: Earl Walters, Gerald Walters, James Walters, Roy Walters, and Maurice Walters; and one sister, Mable West.

She is survived by her children: Mike McMillan of Lumberton and Wanda Smith and husband Ray of Lumberton; two grandchildren: Farrah Smith and Amanda Williamson; and one sister, Murline Britt of Lumberton.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, July 27, 2017, at 11:00 AM at Meadowbrook Cemetery with Rev. Charles Brust officiating. The family will receive friends at the graveside following the service.
