Betty Louise Hyatt Merritt, age 89, of Lumberton, NC passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at Woodhaven Nursing Center. She was born on May 25, 1937, in Robeson County to the late Rowland Hyatt and Blanche Faircloth.

Left to cherish her memories are her seven children, Roland Packer, Johnny Ray Packer, Isaac Packer, Jake Packer, Dennis Packer, Vicky Graham and Leo Merritt, as well as several nieces and nephews, several grandchildren, many, many great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

A time of visitation with family and friends will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 10:00-11:00 AM at Floyd Mortuary and Crematory, 809 E. 5th St. Lumberton, NC.

A funeral service will follow the visitation on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Floyd Memorial Chapel, officiated by Rev. Berry Packer and Jake Packer. Burial will follow the funeral service at Floyd Memory Gardens, Old Whiteville Rd. Lumberton, NC.
