Ms. Betty Jo Chavis Hunt, age 76, of Fairmont, NC went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 13, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at UNC Health Southeastern in Lumberton, NC. Ms. Betty was born November 8, 1947 in Robeson County to the late Janie Chavis.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Redell Hunt (August 15, 2023); her oldest daughter, Janie Faye Ransom (March 19, 2023); a son-in-law, David Ransom; and her siblings, Doris Faircloth and Clinton Chavis.

Ms. Betty was a devoted wife, wonderful mother to ten children, a devoted woman of God, and a member of Pleasant View Missionary Baptist Church prior to her declining health. She loved to cook and fellowship with her family.

She is survived by five sons, Ardell (Tricia), Ledell, Glendell, Redell, Jr., and Rev. Timmy Hunt (Linda), all of Fairmont, NC; four daughters: Brenda Hunt of the home, Judy Hunt, and Teresa Granados (Gilberto) both of Fairmont, NC, and Lissa Gonzales (Juan Zamaro), of Lumberton, NC; Lumberton, NC; one sister, Vera Chavis of Marietta, NC; sixteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

A time of visitation will be held Tuesday, September 17, 2024, from 1:00PM-2:00PM at Pleasant View Missionary Baptist Church, 198 Pleasant View Church Road in Fairmont, NC. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00PM with Revs. Ricky Burnett, Nick McNeill, and Davey Locklear officiating. Burial will follow in Northside Independent Church Cemetery, 378 Circle Drive in Lumberton, NC.
