Betty Britt's Obituary
Mrs. Betty Davis Britt, wife of the late Mr. James Norment Britt, Jr., of Lumberton, passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2018, at home. She was born April 22, 1927 to the late Paul P. Davis and the late Elma Leigh Farabow Davis.
She grew up in Yadkin County where she graduated from Salem Academy and Meredith College. And in 1950 she was married to James, who predeceased her in 1988. She was an active member of First Baptist Church and the Woodhaven Nursing Center Music Ministry. Her greatest passion was the Davis House for Boys at the Baptist Children's Homes in Winston-Salem, which she built and continued to be involved with its ministry for many years.
Along with her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Charles Bruce Davis.
She is survived by her son, James Norment Britt III and wife Brenda of Lumberton, and her sister, Jesse Leigh Boney of Wilmington.
A graveside service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2018, at Meadowbrook Cemetery at 11:00 AM with Dr. David Elks officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside and other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Britt requested that donations be given to the charity of your choice or perform an act of kindness for a neighbor in her memory.
