Bertie Jacobs Walters, 78, of Fairmont, NC died at Southeastern Hospice House on June 4, 2009. She was born April 13, 1931 to Henry Jacobs and Maggie Oxendine. She worked as a nursing assistant.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, James Alford Walters, Jr.

Mrs. Walters is survived by her husband, James A. \\"Buddy\\" Walters of the home; two sons, Gary J. Walters and wife, Kay of Orrum, NC, Darin Walters and wife, Melanie of Bealeton, VA; one daughter, Gayle Locklear and husband, Leroy of Lumberton, NC; several brothers and sisters; sister, Onita Pevia of Raeford, NC; twelve grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Services will be held on Monday, June 8, 2009 at 4:00 PM at Reedy Branch Baptist Church with the Reverends Hilton and Crafton Chavis. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 7, 2009 from 7:00-9:00 PM at Floyd Funeral Services in Fairmont, NC.
