Bernice Mitchell, 80, of Fairmont, NC passed away peacefully on Friday, September 13, 2013 at Hospice Home in High Point, NC following a courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. Bernice was born on December 21, 1932 in Fairmont, NC and served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of Fairmont First Baptist Church. He was also a Mason and a Shriner. Bernice is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Charlotte. He is also survived by his son Bernie Mitchell and his wife Claudia of Charlotte, NC; daughter Becky Helms and her husband Tim of High Point, NC; two grandsons, David Mitchell and Nick Helms; and one sister, Jean Butler of Charlotte, NC. Bernice was preceded in death by his parents Medwin and Rebecca Mitchell; two brothers, Homer Mitchell and E.T. Mitchell; and two sisters, Voncille McDonald and Mildred Brown. Funeral Services will take place at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, September 16, 2013 at Floyd Funeral Services Chapel in Fairmont. Burial will follow in Floyd Memorial Cemetery.
