Mrs. Bernice Hunt Locklear of 395 Bowman Road of Lumberton, NC 28358 departed this life December 21, 2009 making her journey of 73 years.

Mrs. Bernice is preceded in death by her parents Judie C. and Marvin Hunt and stepfather Earl Vester (Tomp) Hunt. Two brothers, Earl Vester (E.V.) and Thomas Earl Hunt.

Mrs. Locklear is survived by her husband, Vernon R. Locklear of 55 years; seven daughters, Bernette Davis of the home, Dianne Cummings, Barbara Williamson and husband, Larry, Flora Minor and husband, Marc, Genive Cummings and husband Bobby, all of Lumberton and Verna Rese Hunt and wife and husband, Ronald, Bessie (Nuddie) Holmes and husband, Colonel both of Fairmont; one son, James Lindell Locklear of Florida and wife Barbara; one brother, Larry Hunt and wife, Evelyn of Fairmont; eighteen grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends and Dialysis of Fairmont and Hospice of Lumberton.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 24, 2009 at 2:00 PM at McDonald Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Bruce Ransom, Rev. Marvin Hunt and Rev. Timmy Hunt officiating.

The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 from 7:00-9:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 E. 5th Street in Lumberton.
