Mr. Benjamin "Ragman" Martin Cox, 81, of Lumberton, NC, passed away Sunday, April 16, 2023, at UNC Health Southeastern in Lumberton, NC. He was born in Robeson County, NC on November 28, 1941 to the late Troy & Lonnie Lawson Cox.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Jon Cox, Harold Cox, and Tommy Cox; his sisters: Jaynell Williamson, Pearline Britt, and Theta Mae Coleman; and his daughter, Cheryl Cox Barnhill.

He is survived by his wife Judy Cox of the home, his son Ray Cox and wife Lynn of Lumberton, NC; his daughter, Bethann Perry and husband Walter, Jr. of Lumberton, NC; and 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

He was loved from the coast to the mountains and will be greatly missed.

The family will receive friends and loved ones prior to the service on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, from 1:00-2:00 PM at Mt. Elim Baptist Church, 645 N. Creek Road in Orrum, NC. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM with Rev. James Graham officiating. Burial will follow in the church's cemetery.
