Barbara Ann
Poston Johnson Moore
Jun 28, 1936 — Oct 3, 2026
Lumberton
Barbara Ann Poston Johnson Moore, affectionately known as "MawMaw," 90, passed away comfortably in her home on October 3, 2026. Born on June 28, 1936, in Iredell County, North Carolina, to the late Paul and Dorothy Poston. Barbara's family was the heart of her life and her greatest source of pride.
Barbara lived a life deeply rooted in faith, family, and love. She was a faithful servant of the Lord who sought to reflect the love of Jesus in the way she cared for others. She loved deeply, gave selflessly, and cared for those around her with a nurturing spirit.
Barbara was blessed with a large and close-knit family whom she cherished above all else. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, and few things brought her more happiness than spending time with those she loved. Her family will remember her as loving, nurturing, faithful, and selfless, but also for her charismatic personality and quick wit that could bring laughter to any room.
Throughout her life, Barbara was hardworking and independent, serving as an owner and operator of a motor sales business. Whether enjoying a beautiful day outside, adding to her beloved doll collection, or simply being surrounded by family, Barbara found joy in the people and simple pleasures that made life meaningful.
Barbara was preceded in death by, Paul and Dorothy Poston; her husband and father of her children, Haynes L. Johnson and her second husband, Cutlar Moore II; her siblings, Gayle Freeman, Tommy Poston, and Don Poston; and her son-in-law, Darryl Davis.
She is survived by her brother, Jim (Donna) Poston; her children, Cheryl Davis, Wade (Norma) Johnson, Paul (Amy) Johnson, Diane (Rick) Elkins, Tommy (Teresa) Johnson, and Cutlar (Cindy) Moore; her grandchildren, LeeAnn (Kevin) Walker , Haynes (Erin) Johnson, and Lauren (Eli) Salazar; her great-grandchildren, Zoe (Dalton) Roberts, Emily Hall, Ian Hall, and "JJ" Johnson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
While MawMaw's presence will be deeply missed, her family finds peace in knowing that the Lord she faithfully served throughout her life has welcomed her home. Those who loved her will continue to carry her faith, her laughter, her lessons, and, most of all her unwavering love.
The family would like to thank Lower Cape Fear Hospice for the caring support and compassionate service provided during their time of need.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Gardens of Faith Cemetery with Rev. William Meares officiating. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service.
