Mrs. Ava Gray Pittman Ellis, age 88, of Lumberton, passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton. She was born in Robeson County on May 16, 1926 to the late Clarence Pittman and the Ava Belle Pittman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-mother, Eunice Pittman; husband, Edison Ellis and a brother, Wallace Ray Pittman. She is survived by two sisters, Linda Galacci of Lumberton and Sharon England and husband, Richard of Charlotte; one brother, Roger Pittman and wife, Dorothy of Lumberton; three nephews and two great-nieces. A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 1, 2015 at 2:00PM at Gardens of Faith Cemetery in Lumberton with Rev. Bruce Brumfield officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
