Ava Gray Pittman Britt, of Lumberton, passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at her home. She was born on May 22, 1927 in Robeson County to the late Walter Pittman and the late Ada Capps Pittman. Although many birthdays passed, she always remained forever the age of 39.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dixon Britt, Sr.; three brothers, Elmer Pittman, Lloyd Pittman, and Hilton Pittman; and her sister, Ilene Griswold.

Mrs. Britt is survived by her son, Dixon Britt, Jr. and wife, Betty Karl, of Fairmont; two daughters, Sandra Britt Owen and husband, Harry, and Brenda Britt Prease and fiancé, Hollis Britt, all of Lumberton; two grandchildren, Samuel Dixon Britt and wife, Brittany, and Michelle Stone Morgan and husband, Andy, all of Lumberton; two great-grandchildren, Josh Morgan and Maddox Britt; and special friend, Frances Ivey, of Lumberton.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 26, 2012 from 7:00-9:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 E. 5th Street, Lumberton.

A funeral service will take place on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Long Branch Baptist Church, with Pastor Jeff Broadwell officiating. Burial will follow at Meadowbrook Cemetery.
