Arthur Baley Newberry, 67, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Canon City, Colorado on September 1, 2008.
Mr. Newberry was born on November 25, 1940 in Washington, D.C. to Lee Cromwell Newberry and Marie Ann Kinlaw Newberry.
He spent his childhood in North Carolina with his 2 sisters and 5 brothers. Mr. Newberry proudly served for 7 years in the United States Air Force. He met the love of his life, Becky, and they married on December 31, 1975 in South Carolina. They moved to Colorado where they have resided for the past 33 years.
He loved to spend time in the Mountains with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend , Becky of Canon City, Colorado; 3 daughters whom he adored, Tina Sanders and husband, Shane of Canon City, Colorado, Tomi Pollock and husband, Dustin of Clearfield, Utah and Tammy Carlsen and husband, Gregg of Durango, Colorado; 2 sons, Arthur B. Newberry and wife, Melissa of Bigelow, Arkansas and Richard Hudgell and wife, Cheryl of Cedarville, Ohio; 3 brothers, John Newberry and wife, Patty of Orrum, NC, Carl Newberry and wife, Peggy and Joe Newberry and wife, Joann all of South Carolina; and 14 grandchildren whom he loved very much.
The family will receive friends Sunday, September 7, 2008 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Midway Baptist Church in Lumberton, NC.
The funeral service will be Monday, September 8, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Midway Baptist Church , 2686 Beulah Church Road, Lumberton, NC. Interment at Floyd Memory Gardens in Lumberton, NC.
The family wishes to send a special thanks to the Sangre de Cristo Hospice in Canon City, Colorado.
