Arbutus Hester Pittman, age 80, of Lumberton, NC passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton. She was born in Bladen County, NC on August 5, 1933 to the late Gaston and Lizzie Cain Hester. She previously worked as a substitute teacher for the Public Schools of Lumberton. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters. Mrs. Pittman is survived by her husband, Matthew Pittman of the home; a son, Timmy Pittman of Lumberton; a brother, Al Hester, Jr. of Bladenboro; three sisters, Joann Johnson of Burgaw, Doreatha Edwards of Bladenboro, and Libby Libby of Elizabethtown; and two grandchildren, Nicole Pittman and Alec Pittman. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Beulah Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Britt officiating. Burial will follow in the Pittman Family Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 from 7:00-9:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5th Street in Lumberton.
