Obituary

Ann Terry Smith was the loving daughter of the late Selma & James Terry, and stepdaughter of Johnson Coleman. She grew up in Conway, South Carolina and graduated from Columbia College. Anyone who knew Ann knew her love of teaching. She began her teaching career at Conway High School and became "Teacher of the Year" several times there before moving to North Carolina, where she taught in schools across the state. Here, Ann continued to receive accolades and awards for her heart and commitment to education. After 44 wonderful years, she retired from teaching.

Throughout her life, Ann was a faithful follower of our Lord Jesus Christ and spent her life being kind, generous, and loving to all she met. Her unwavering faith and gentle spirit left an indelible mark on all who were privileged to know and love her. She was a strong believer in miracles and considered herself one.

Ann was a former member of Trinity Methodist Church in Conway and spent numerous hours teaching Bible studies, leading small groups, and playing the piano. She loved studying the Word and writing. And as wife to the Rev. Dr. Stanley Smith, Ann enjoyed supporting her husband in ministry throughout all the churches and communities in NC where the Lord brought them. Upon retiring, she became heavily involved in various groups at Lake Junaluska, NC and then later in Lumberton, NC at Wesley Pines in addition to all the churches she attended and served along the way.

Ann loved her children and grandchildren and seeing them or hearing from them always lifted her spirits. She is survived by her loving family: husband Rev. Dr. Stanley Smith; sons, Reid Edgeworth (Lynn) and Stan Edgeworth; stepdaughters, Kristi Rice (Peter) and Karla Daniels (Richard); and her 8 grandchildren; along with her brother, Dickie Terry (Linda), and her nieces and nephews.

She enjoyed her time with friends and family at the beach and traveling with groups and friends to various places. Attending a class reunion with her former classmates from Conway High was always a joy to her, as well as spending time with her lifelong "YaYa sisters" Vickie Byrd and Sara Todd.

Ann will be missed by her family and all those who were blessed to know and love her.
