Obituary

Andrew Sherman Denish passed away on August 22, 2016. He was born in Franklin, New Hampshire on April 23, 1943 to parents Merton and Lillian Denish, both whom preceded him in death.  He is survived by 2 brothers, Freeman Denish of Lumberton, North Carolina and Melvin Denish (Karen) of Clarksville, Tennessee and one sister, Kathryn Denish of Georges Mills, New Hampshire.  He is also survived by nephew, Greg Denish (Kim); one great niece Ava Denish; one great nephew, Zachary Denish of Harvest, Alabama; one niece, Sarah Walter (Jeff); two great nephews, Austin Walter and Jack Walter; and one great niece, Chloe Walter of Clarksville, Tennessee.

Andrew worked construction in Vermont in the late 1960s for several years.  He also worked as a mechanic and station attendant at Sinclair and Getty gas stations in the early 1970s in Franklin, New Hampshire.  He moved to Lumberton North Carolina around 1973 to join his brother, Freeman who had moved there a couple years prior.  He worked at several gas stations in the Lumberton area as a light mechanic and station attendant for many years.

He loved his cars and trucks and owned many classics from the 50's, 60's and 70's and would be happy to tell you about them in great detail for the asking.  Of course he didn't know they would be classics when he owned them.  He enjoyed NASCAR racing, and could also tell you the plot on every episode of the Dukes of Hazard.  He was a great friend to anyone who needed a friend and would do anything for family and friends even if it meant spending his last dime.

He is and will continue to be greatly missed by his family and his many friends from North Carolina to New Hampshire and beyond.

A memorial service is being planned at the Chestnut Street United Methodist Church in Lumberton, on Friday, September 2, 2016 at 7:00 PM.  A time of visitation will precede the service from 6:00-7:00 PM at the church.

Donations to the family can be made through Chestnut Street Methodist Church, 200 East 8th Street, Lumberton, NC 28358.
