Mr. Alton (Babe) Lawson, 85, of Lumberton, NC, passed away Thursday, June 8, 2023, at UNC Health Southeastern in Lumberton, NC. He was born in Robeson County, NC on August 22, 1937 to the late Devoy & Lula Lawson.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Morris Lawson, and his sister, Johnnie Lou Simmons.

He is survived by his wife, Judith Bullock Lawson; his sons, Jeff Lawson (Alisha) of Lumberton, NC and Eric Lawson of Woodleaf, NC; his sister, Betty Joe Lawson of Lumberton, NC; his granddaughters, Taylor, who felt more like a daughter than a granddaughter, and Avari. He is also survived by his grandsons: Alex, Max, Eli, and Troy; and his great-grandchildren: Kinsley, Keenan, and Bryston.

The family will receive friends prior to the service on Sunday, June 11, 2023, from 1:30-2:45 PM at Floyd Memorial Chapel, 809 E. 5th Street in Lumberton, NC. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM with Rev. Robert Lawson officiating. Burial will follow at Ivey Family Cemetery in Orrum, NC.
