Alton B. Jones, Jr., 45, of Lumberton died on Sunday, September 4, 2011, at his residence. He was born in Cumberland County, NC on January 21, 1966 to Alton B. Jones, Sr. and Margaret Scott Jones. He worked as a cable installer for the telephone company.

Mr. Jones is survived by his mother and step-father, Margaret and Donald Allen; fiancée, Crystal Herring; grandmother, Carrie Mae Cummings of Shannon; son Aaron Jones and wife Monica of Elizabeth City; daughters, Brittany Jones and Shelby Jones of Elizabeth City; brothers, Billy Ray Jones and Jimmy Jones and wife Debbie of St. Pauls; special family, Ashleigh, Justin, and Lauren; a step-brother, James Allen of Magnolia; step-sisters, Nancy Allen of Magnolia, Romay Allen of Eden, Retha Ratley of Warsaw and Jennifer Hunt of Lumberton; and one grandchild, Brenden Herring.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at 4:00 PM at Floyd Memorial Chapel in Lumberton with Rev. Roosevelt Scott and Rev. Roy Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Zion's Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Rennert.

Visitation will be on Tuesday evening, September 6, 2011 form 7:00-9:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 E. 5th Street in Lumberton and other times at 139 Lake Drive in Lumberton and at 518 N. 3rd Street in St. Pauls.
