Alma Jewel Cox Durden, 83, of Bladenboro, NC, passed away on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at her residence. She was born in Robeson County, NC on April 21, 1938 to the late Rossie Cox and the late Vera Anderson Cox. She enjoyed most of all spending time with her family and cooking delicious meals for them.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Stanley Durden, Sr.; a grandson, Jason Caison; three brothers: Grady Cox, Lacey Cox, and Sonny Boy Cox; and three sisters: Ruth Johnson, Grace Sydes, and Katie Lou Shepherd.

She is survived by a son, William "Willie" Stanley Durden, Jr. of Bladenboro, NC; four daughters: Debbie Durden, Judy Walters (Tony), and Pamela Johnson (Ronnie), all of Bladenboro, NC, and Lisa Rogers (Rick) of Hickory, NC; two brothers, Henry Cox (Mary) and Buddy Cox (Shug), all of Lumberton, NC; 6 grandchildren: Sonja (Keith), Willie (Sandy), Tabitha (Tony), Ricki Lynn,  Joy Lynn (Ray), and Brandon (Hilary); and 15 great-grandchildren.

The visitation will be prior to the service on Friday, November 12, 2021, from 1:00-2:3o PM at Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Bladenboro, NC. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 2:30 PM with Rev. Bruce Miller and Rev. Charles Brust officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
