Alex L. Monroe, age 60, of Orrum, NC passed away Monday, September 11, 2023 at UNC Health Southeastern in Lumberton, NC. Mr. Monroe was born January 1, 1963 in Robeson County to the late J.M. Monroe and the late Mildred Lawson Monroe.

Alex retired from Robeson County Sheriff's Department. He was currently working as a investigator with the public defender's office.

He is survived by his wife, Tammy Monroe; two daughters, Katye Monroe of Leland, NC and Lauren Kowalski (Chris), of Fayetteville, NC; a brother, Mike Fowler (Camille Davis) of Carolina Beach, NC; two sisters, Kay Townsend (Eugene), of Fairmont, NC and Judy Monroe (Patrick Little), of Lumberton, NC; two grandchildren, Payton Monroe and Keith Britt; his mother-in-law, Shirley Britt of Fairmont, NC; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Donna Britt of Orrum, NC, one niece, Terri; three nephews, Rick, Jay, and Justin.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, September 17, 2023, at 3:00PM at First Baptist Church, 416 S. Main Street in Fairmont, NC. Visitation will immediately follow the service at the church.
