Albert Paul Smith, Sr., age 79, of Lumberton, NC passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2014 at Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton. He was born in Robeson County, NC on May 5, 1935 to the late Quincy and Beady Caulder Smith. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was employed in sales by McDuffie Furniture Company. Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Sudie Baxley Smith of the home; a son, Albert Paul Smith, Jr., and wife Paula of Lumberton; a daughter, Beverly Norton and husband, Terry of Lumberton; brothers, Ralph Smith of Pembroke and Homer Smith of Gold Hill; sisters, Bertha Cooper of Lumberton, Estelle Sasser of Ashland, VA, Edna Jackson of Raeford, Margaret Stone of Lumberton, and Linda Snider of Lexington; grandchildren, Pearce and Jenna Smith, and Kelsey Norton; special nephew, Carey Smith and special niece, Annette Davis; and his gardening friend, Roosevelt Barfield. A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2014 from 6:00-8:30 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5th Street in Lumberton. The funeral service will be Sunday, December 28, 2014 at 2:oo PM at Floyd Memorial Chapel in Lumberton with Rev. David Hawes and Dr. Lynn Bullock officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowbrook Cemetery.
