Adell Locklear Lewis of 196 Grantham Loop Road, Rowland, departed this life on November 4, 2011 making her journey of 74 years. She was born on March 7, 1937 to the late Rev. John Wesley Locklear and the late Maebell S. Locklear.

Ms. Lewis is preceded in death by three grandchildren, Marina Chavis, Leona Lewis and Maelyia Lewis.

Ms. Adell was a loving mother, wife, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be remembered most as a faithful Christian and missionary. Ms. Adell was a member at Benson Chapel Baptist Church where she was a diligent worker for the Lord.

Ms. Adell is survived by her husband, Haywood Lewis; four sons, Mickey Locklear and Jason Lewis of the home, Randy Lewis and William Lewis both of Rowland; two daughters, Hattie Lewis and Carmela Hunt both of Lumberton; two brothers, John P. Locklear of Rowland and Larry Locklear of Elizabethtown; five sisters, Diamond Chavis and Patricia Chavis both of Pembroke, Sarah Jacobs, Brenda Jacobs and Vickie Freeman of Rowland. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

Ms. Adell was loved by many and she was referred to by many of her nieces and nephews as ??Ma-ma?.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Benson Chapel Baptist Church in Rowland.

Visitation will be on Monday, November 7, 2011 from 7:00-9:00 PM at Floyd Funeral Services, 1549 Marion Stage Road in Fairmont.
