Addie Mae Gist Thompon, age 82, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2018. She was born April 23, 1935 in Dillon, SC to the late Hugh and Lula Gist. Addie Mae, whom many called "Mama", was a homemaker and a mother to eight siblings.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Willie Thompson; her son, Bobby Lee Thompson; a grandchild, Ander Lee Locklear; and four siblings: Boyd Gist, Dorlene Hunt, John Hugh Gist, and Magdeline Hunt.

Addie Mae is survived by two sons: Kelvin Ray Thompson and wife Lilly and James Howard Thompson and wife Joyce; seven daughters: Mary Strickland and husband Alfred, Lucy "Janie" Weeks and husband Jim, Alice Watts and husband Danny, Josephine Locklear and husband Greg, Lilly Strickland and husband Junior, and Gertie Bullard and husband Charles; four siblings: Gertrude Gist of Homer, SC, Hugh Gene Gist of Rowland, Lula Mae Hunt of Columbus, OH, and Rev. Tommy Gist of Pembroke; and a host of friends and family.

Addie Mae was also the proud grandmother of 23 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

We all loved Addie Mae but God loved her best.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 11, 2018, from 7:00-9:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018, at 2:00 PM at Floyd Memorial Chapel with Rev. Tommy Gist and Rev. Gary Locklear officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Church Cemetery in Rowland.
