Adam
Locklear
Aug 6, 1992 — Apr 16, 2020
N. Myrtle Beach
Mr. Alton Adam Locklear, age 27, of N. Myrtle Beach, SC, formerly of Lumberton, NC, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2020. He was born in Cumberland County, NC on August 6, 1992.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Joe Swinson.
He is survived by his mother, Gina S. Logue and husband Mike of Ocean Isle, NC; his father, Alton Locklear, Jr. of Lumberton, NC; his brother, Benjamin S. Locklear of Lumberton, NC; his paternal grandparents: Alton Locklear of Hope Mills, NC and Faye Adams and husband Jack of Fayetteville, NC; his maternal grandmother, Jean Swinson of Newton Grove, NC; his great-grandmother, Beaula Kemerer; his aunts: Anita Campbell of Fayetteville, NC, Gwen King, and Angie Blizzard; his uncle, Hilbert Swinson of Mt. Olive, NC; his cousins: Destiny Campbell, Tiffany Smith, and Tyler Swinson; a godson, Corbin McDougald; a goddaughter, Sophie Oxendine; and a large extended family and numerous loved ones.
Adam was a respectful young boy who grew into a loving, respectful, kind, simple man. His demeanor and personality were always a smile no matter the situation, slow to anger, and quick to reconcile.
He never wanted to live in a big home or drive a fancy car. He just wanted to live a simple life and fish. He dreamed of becoming a Captain of a large vessel while spending his downtime fishing off the back. If going to heaven means going to what your heart most desired, then he is traveling on an ocean of stars with no destination in mind and a fishing pole trolling off the stern.
As tears flood my eyes, my mood moves from anger at him being taken away to joy that all his burdens are lifted, never to know of them again. I can only relish the smiles and laughter that are his to be given in heaven. My son may have been a man to the world, but he will always be our boy to me and his mother. I love him more than most can believe.
While his life on this earth was short, which we will never understand, he had an enormous impact on my life and probably yours too. During his last few precious hours on this earth, as the custom of who Adam was, he was cutting his neighbor's grass.
A private graveside service will be held at Oxendine Family Cemetery with Jackie Bartley officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to encourage you to practice a random act of kindness and go fishing in Adam's memory.
