Mr. Willie (“Bill”) Eugin Stanley, age 84, passed away peacefully into the arms of his Lord on April 6, 2014 at Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton. Bill was one of two children born to Carlos (deceased) and Pearl Stanley of Fairmont. He was very close to his sister, Ann and they grew up on a farm where they learned the value of hard work and Christian principles. Bill was a lifelong member of Centerville Baptist Church.

After high school, Bill attended Campbell College and State University and later married June Floyd in 1951 and they had two children. They resided in Raeford, NC where Bill was employed as a supervisor at Burlington Industries for thirty-four years before retiring in 1985. Although their marriage ended, he and June maintained a close family connection and respect for each other right up to her death on March 25, 2014. Bill’s fiancée, Betty Lawson has been the light of his life and devoted companion for forty-six years. They have shared a wonderful and full life together enjoying various activities which included church, square dancing, fishing, traveling with the Winnebago Motor Home Club and spending time with beloved family and friends.

Bill was known for working tirelessly in his garden and he loved to give away the fruits of his labor. Bill was also a compassionate person that had tenderness for animals. He rescued stray animals that seemed to find their way to him, the latest one being “Susie Q” which he loved spending quiet time with, petting and reassuring her. Bill had a strong character and was known as a man of great integrity and honesty. He loved his family and friends and will be missed by all.
